The countdown continues:
T– 21 days until the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight.
YuriGagarin50 Chair, Dr Chris Welch and The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) have joined together to deliver a Yuri Gagarin Lecture at the IET, Savoy Place, London, on 12th April from 6pm - 8pm.
The evening lecture celebrates 50 years of manned space flight and will look at the past, present and future plans and possibilities.
The programme for the evening:

Yuri’s Night Competition
Yuri’s Night is pleased to announce that our two recently announced contests, the “Call to Humanity” Space Exploration Advertisement Competition and Yuri’s Night International Space Sweepstakes, are now officially open and accepting entries. $18,000 in space-themed prizes are being offered through these two contests, both of which are completely free to enter.

YuriGagarin50 want to encourage as many Yuri Gagarin’s as possible to meet, wearing Spacesuit costumes, at 7am on 12th April on the Southbank, ready to toast the 50th anniversary at the exact time of the launch (07:07 BST).
We would appreciate it if you could help us to gain the support we need to make the event a success.
If you are able to join us, please go to http://yurigagarin50.org/events/yuri-walk for details on how to create a Yuri Gagarin spacesuit. If you don’t want to dress in a spacesuit, just wear something orange! Bring your friends!
The Science Museum events for the 12th April will include: talks from a Yuri Gagarin drama character, Russian to Space - an interactive show, Space Gallery Tours and ‘First Orbit’ - a film by Christopher Riley, will be screened throughout the day.
More details will be on the Science Museum website and the YuriGagarin50 calendar of events as they become available.
