The countdown continues:
T– 36 days until the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s spaceflight.
YuriGagarin50 attended the UK-Russia Year of Space signing in Moscow (full report on next page).
From Moscow to Manchester
YuriGagarin50 also attended the UKSEDs ( Conference. We gained many more supporters and photographed them. Photographs for both these events can be viewed on the YG50 Flickr group.
In other news, the website is constantly being updated and the ‘new and improved look’ events calendar is filling up, please tell us about your events.

JOIN US FOR THE ‘YURI WALK’
YuriGagarin50 would like you to join us for a walk along the Southbank on 12th April 2011, starting at Waterloo bridge at 7am prompt. At 07:07 BST - exactly 50 years on we will be toasting Gagarin’s launch.
The event is to raise awareness of the 50th anniversary. We aim to get the media involved so that the UK wakes up and knows why it is a day worth celebrating!
ROCKETS FOR YURI
Launch Manual 1 is now online at www.yurigagarin50.org/resources/launch-manuals
The manual is aimed at KeyStage 3&4 but the Air-Powered Rocket instructions are suitable for all ages. Please tell your local schools and parents of it’s existence.
Download it yourself and make a rocket.
YOUTUBE. YuriGagarin50’s Channel has uploaded a Rockets for Yuri instruction video made by a 6yr old. We would like you to join us and upload any ‘Rockets for Yuri’ videos or other YG50 related videos.

YuriGagarin50 at the signing of the UK-Russia Year of Space agreement
“The UK Russia Year of Space 2011 will include the events specified in the Supplement to the Joint Statement, namely: implementation of a joint experiment onboard the International Space Station, and
holding of a series of joint keynote lectures, conferences and exhibitions in the field of space with the
participation of world-class scientists from Russia and the UK.”

YuriGagarin50 at the UKSEDs Conference
YuriGagarin50 attended the UKSEDs conference in Manchester on the 26th and 27th February to raise awareness of the fast approaching 50th anniversary and celebrations and to gain more support for all the activities and events that YG50 are helping to promote. We signed up 23 new supporters and managed to take pictures of all of them with the YG50 logo. Everyone who was photographed can be seen on our flickr group: www.flickr.com/groups/yg50
